TOP 5 ADVENTURE TRIP IDEAS

1. Hike the Triple Crown
top 5 adventure trip ideas
Smoky Mountains
This adventure takes extreme commitment as it does not just take a weekend or week but rather years.  The Triple Crown is nearly 7,700 miles, which is enough to stretch nearly a third of the way around the globe.  This adventure takes training and years of planning - maybe that is why fewer than 100 people have completed the entire trail.  It includes the United State's three longest trails: the Pacific Crest, Appalachian, and Continental Divide; and a few pairs of hiking boots! If you are a hiking, outdoor enthusiasts that can afford to take the time to complete the trail you will experience wave battered coast lines, primordial forests, deserts, snowcapped peaks, volcanoes, rainforests, huge open skies that you will have all to yourself.
2. Descend into an active volcano
top 5 adventure trip ideas
This may seem crazy, but people do it on the island of Vanuatu in the South Pacific led by Kiwi adventurer Geoff Mackley.  He will put you in a heatproof suit, take you 640 feet into Vanuatu's Marum Volcano so you are just 300 feet over boiling lava.  Not only will you have to brave the extreme heat but also toxic gases, tumbling rocks, and unexpected explosions!  I suggest this adventure be only for the extreme agile and coordinated...
3. Dive the blue holes
top 5 adventure trip ideas
This may seem relativity simple but what most people do not understand is the Blue Hole diving is dangerous.  What lies below the dreamy clear surface are limestone passageways that have layers of toxic gases in them, and if you can get by the gas then you still have to navigate your way through the pinhole passageways.  One technical error, wrong turn, or just scraping the 10,000 year old limestone could bring it crashing down.  So if you are a diving junkie or in search for another world, Blue holes are you gig but beware!
4. Swim with Great White Sharks
top 5 adventure trip ideas
I have a friend who did this off the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and he said that it was one of the most intense things he has ever done.  He said he felt like he was the prey because the sharks knew he was there way before he could see them.  You have to guts, patience, and vigilance to put yourself in close proximity to the apex predators.  If you want to take it a step further, you can swim with them cageless, like the adventurer Jeb Corliss, who does this off Mexico.  But keep in mind, that he is a professional and you should only be accompanied by one!
5. Climb, swim, or surf the Poles
top 5 adventure trip ideas
While the majority of the adventure seekers that head to the Poles are professionals, any person who is physically fit, in good health, and who has the unwavering desire to conquer some of the world's coldest places, can do it.

Reasons to love the world

 reasons to love the world

I HAVE MY OWN REASONS TO LOVE THE WORLD, YET IT SEEMS EVERY TRAVELER'S LOVE OF THE WORLD CONSIST OF THE SAME REASONS....

NEW EXPERIENCES THAT CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER.

As human beings we are constantly seeking stimulation and new experiences, yet we struggle to find them in our daily life.  Do you find yourself in daily situations that leave you awestruck or change you as a person??  I sure don't and that is why I travel - to evolve myself.
I came across an article on BBC Travel entitled, 50 Reasons to #LoveTheWorld, and it spoke deeply to me.  I love learning from other traveler's why they love the world and what motivates them to keep traveling.  I am a firm believer in ignoring the news and venturing to any destination that you want - mainly because life is to short to let the media scare you into your own home.
The quote below is what made me read the article, they started off saying:
Headlines can paint a pretty grim picture of life across our planet. On bad days, they can make any of us want to seek shelter at home. But in fact, doing the opposite can produce surprisingly curative results. Spin the globe. Pack a bag. Break bread with strangers. Soak in radical beauty. In short– travel.
Geez, take the words right out of my mouth!!  My first thought was, "I wish I could make everyone think this way!"  And that folks is why I am sharing it with you today.

I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOUR MY REASONS TO LOVE THE WORLD...

I love the world when I sit on the beach in Nicaragua with local children as they play among the rocks and we all watch the sunset over the Pacific ocean together; It makes me feel so humble, small and insignificant and yet so big.  I believe that everyone needs to feel small sometimes so we can appreciate the world we live in.
reasons to love the world
I love the world for the joy of breaking bread with strangers, for the joy of making friends from all over the world that become friends for a lifetime.  The bond you have with friends you make while traveling is a bond that cannot be broken nor recreated at home.  Why?  Because you end of sharing some of your fondest memories with them, and chances are the times would not have been so great if they were not a part of it.
reasons to love the world  reasons to love the world
I love the world because it is resilient, no matter what humans do to it or make it out to be, it is always amazing.  The world provides opportunities for us to learn, grow, discover, share, and be loved.  The world really does love us, especially the people who treat her well.
reasons to love the world
I love the world for taking me places like the Great Barrier Reef, it will always be one of my greatest traveling tales.  To see the world in all of its natural glory is one of the most breath taking experiences one can live.
reasons to love the world
I love the world for her colors, because I love all colors....and lots of them.  Hiking through the deep green jungle in Hawaii, to be led out to the deepest and brightest blue ocean that was lined with perfectly red Hibiscus flowers was a sight that has become my happy place.
reasons to love the world
I love the world because it will teach more in one week than an entire year being in a classroom.  The best education comes from living and breathing in what the world gives - that is the way she intended it to be and that is how I will raise my son.

Italy Photo Diary

ITALY PHOTO DIARY

It has been years since I have been to Italy, but only seconds since I last thought about the beautiful country.  Unfortunately, when I went the level of technology was not where it is today so majority of my photos have disappeared.  I went through my college history class with about 15 other girls and we started out in Rome, then to Venice, from there to Florence, and then a couple of small towns to ultimately take a ferry to Greece.  It was one of the most amazing trips I have ever taken.
My only regret is that it was two fast.  We saw three countries and about 13 cities in three weeks!  So my goal ever since I left there was to take another trip to Europe before I am 35 and spend a month.....I really love to travel slow :)
My fondest memories are walking the streets of Florence with my best friend shopping for leather goods, eating gelato, people watching, sight seeing.....and eating more gelato!  Oh, I cannot forget about Venice....what a gem! The architecture, culture, and people make Venice a truly unforgettable experience. The most insane attraction in Italy is Pompeii, you can see the people who are casted into the ground from when Mount Vesuvious overtook the village - quit eerie!
Hint: When dining in Italy, if you are only having drinks you sit on one side of the restaurant - you cannot mix with the people eating.

IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TO ITALY, PLEASE GO.  DO NOT WAIT A SECOND LONGER BECAUSE YOU NEED TO LIVE THE REST OF YOUR LIFE HAVING EXPERIENCED THE DOLCE VITA.

Since I do not have my photos anymore, I have found similar ones that describe my trip.  Enjoy!

Latin American Vacation Packing List

5 things every women needs for a latin american vacation

MY BIGGEST PIECE ADVICE TO YOU IS TO QUIT THINKING ABOUT WHAT KINDS OF SHOES YOU SHOULD BRING AND HOW YOU ARE GOING TO BLOW DRY YOUR HAIR.  TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THAT YOU WILL BE BAREFOOT AND AU NATURAL THE ENTIRE TIME!

ENJOY THE SIMPLICITY OF LIFE!

WHEN YOU TAKE AN EXTENDED VACATION OF 2 WEEKS OR MORE PACKING BECOMES QUITE A TASK AND CAN BE STRESSFUL.  AND IF YOU ARE LIKE ME, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR NOT ONLY PACKING YOUR BELONGS BUT ALSO YOUR CHILD'S AND YOUR SPOUSES.  YES, MY HUSBAND HAS IT MADE :)

My family has traveled to Central and South America many times and through trial and error have learned that packing light is best!  And as a women, there are some things that have just made my entire vacation much more pleasant!

MY GUIDE OF 5 THINGS EVERY WOMEN NEEDS FOR A LATIN AMERICAN VACATION IS A GREAT GUIDE FOR ANY OF THE LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES OR FOR ANY EXTENDED VACA IN A TROPICAL AREA.

5 THINGS EVERY WOMEN NEEDS FOR A LATIN AMERICAN VACATION

FIRST - FAST DRYING AND LIGHT TOWELS

One thing I hate the most to pack is a beach or bath towel - they take up so much room!  My solution has been the REI MultiTowel Light X Large because it literally soaks up an insane amount of water but then rings out to nothing! I would bring one of these plus a sarong and you are good to go!

SECOND - BATHING SUITS

Whether you are staying at a fancy resort or at a hostel, I would plan on being in your bathing suit majority of the time.  It is hot...really hot down there so plan on your suits being your primary clothing option!

THIRD - LIGHT WEIGHT, FAST DRYING ITEMS

From my experience traveling to Nicaragua and Ecuador, out of everything I packed, I always found myself reaching for any airy, thin, long tee shirt to walk around in.  Something that I could lay in the sun and it would dry while I was swimming.  Unless you are super comfortable in denim I would limit it to maybe one pair of shorts.  Another point to make about these countries is that they are super dusty from the lack of paved roads.  Meaning, avoid white - it will become grungy and nasty.  Just don't do it!

FOURTH - FLASH LIGHTS, RESUSABLE WATER BOTTLES, A KNIFE

These three items are not a necessity but really do come in handy.
You will need a flash light for walking down the beach a night or if the electricity where you are staying cuts off daily.  Losing electricity during the day is common in most Latin American Countries, the towns do it to save power.
Reusable water bottles are amazing if your accommodations offer free water out of a large professional jug.  Remember you need to stay extra hydrated especially if you are not used to extreme heat so filler up!
A knife...yes I am serious.  Remember we are vacationing in Latin America not the States.  And actually I would recommend carry a knife with you everywhere no matter what country you are in.  If you do not already own a pocket knife, purchase one that is easy to open and close and will fit in your pocket or purse.  JUST REMEMBER TO PACK IT IN YOUR CHECK LUGGAGE SO SECURITY DOES NOT TAKE IT!

FIVE - SPECIALITY ITEMS

I am not talking about shampoo and such but rather tampons, sunscreen, and aloe vera gel.  If you think sunscreen is expensive here you will be blown away at what the local stores charge for it!  And to boot, if you get burned (which you more than likely will) finding any after sun soothing gel is an impossible task.  Not only are these draw backs of buying these items while on vacation, but you also need to consider that you probably are not going to be in a town and will have to take a cab at least an hour away.  So plan ahead, if you are going to have your demon seed bring plenty of tampons...don't get caught in need yet a hour away!  A little hint, you cannot flush any toilet paper or sanitary products - they all go in the trash can.
