Disney Cruise Financing

united military travel, travel loans, disney cruise, summer vacation, military travel loans, military travel, travel now and pay later

Are your kiddos finally at the age where Disney characters are simply the most magical things on the planet, and the world will end if they do not get to see them in person???  Do you kinda sorta, maybe just a little, dread going to Disney World???

Its ok if you do....we all feel ya!  The Alternative.....a Disney Cruise!

Thats why this family chose to go on a Disney Cruise instead, it offered something for everyone.  The wifey's selling point was that it stopped at multiple islands, giving them a chance to explore the Caribbean as a family.  Her husband was on the same page too, but he also enjoyed the idea of being at sea...its like a mini city with great food, family friendly entertainment, and Disney characters all at sea!  Other than the fact that cruises are awesome anyway, Disney Cruise Line offers a few family friendly things that the other major lines do not.  And to me, that is the most important.  I mean, we aren't choosing Disney because the parents want to go....it has to be great for the kids.  While Disney may be a tad more expensive than the others, these 10 reasons make the extra money spent well worth it!

Read about this family's Disney Cruise experience!

It’s just after 10 p.m., but the poolside deck of the Disney Magic is full of life. A rock band plays on stage for the dancing crowd, while others watch from deck chairs, content in the evening’s enjoyment.
My family and I are tucked away on the side, where we can watch the activity. My children’s eyes are glued on the band, while mine are set on the twinkling lights of Cozumel, Mexico, which grow smaller as we sail from port.
Little do we know, however, that a shipboard assault is in the works. In a dark corner of the ship, Captain Hook plots with his pirates, intent on taking over the ship. At just the right moment, the scoundrels pull their swords. With a yell, they storm the deck and rappel down the walls into our midst.
But just when the pirates seem to have gained the upper hand, Captain Mickey and his friends arrive. Full of bravado, they chase out the rogues and get the party back on track. To celebrate her victory at sea, the Disney Magic sends streams of fireworks into the air that boom and flash overhead.
Disney has been entertaining children for decades, and Disney Cruise Line’s “Pirates in the Caribbean” party is no exception.
While the company offers a variety of excellent itineraries in the eastern and western Caribbean, it’s this passion for pleasing little ones that sets the cruise line apart.
Family time onboard
Sometimes it’s hard to find activities that both parents and children enjoy, but there are plenty of options onboard with Disney. My 14-year-old relished beating me at Ping-Pong on the top deck, while our youngest, age 7, found his groove at the family dances. Some guests competed in the game shows for all ages, while others spent time in the ship’s three age-specific pools. My favorite family diversion? Going to Disney’s first-run movies in the ship’s large theater.
Cool excursions
While sailing is enjoyable, it’s just as fun to explore the cruise line’s Caribbean ports, with each offering something different. If you’re adventurous, you can explore the ports on your own. Our family took a taxi to Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman, the largest of the three Cayman Islands in the Caribbean Sea, where we found the best snorkeling of our whole trip just off shore. Since we’d brought our own snorkel gear from home, the only cost for our adventure was taxi fare.
In Florida’s Key West, a little Internet research before our trip led us to Ski Key West, a beachside company that took us on a Jet Ski tour of the islands — for a very affordable price.
At other ports, though, we chose to purchase Disney’s shore excursions. The cruise line has strict guidelines for all the tour companies they work with, so we knew we were in good hands when we went on an off-road jeep safari in Cozumel, Mexico, and diving in Grand Cayman.
No worries
Most of today’s parents grew up with Disney, so it’s a name we trust. Though it’s often more expensive than other large cruise brands, Disney Cruise Line offers peace of mind. There’s something to be said for safe, clean fun — and like many other parents, I know that I can usually find that with Disney, whether it’s their theme parks, children’s films or Disney Cruise Line.
Our favorite characters
For a child, there’s nothing like seeing your favorite story characters come to life. And there are plenty of opportunities to get up close and personal with the likes of Pluto, Mickey and Cinderella aboard theDisney Magic and Disney Wonder, the company’s two ships. Even our teenager gathered autographs at the Disney Character Breakfast. Disney characters are also available during designated greeting times.
Friendly faces and helpful hands
“Do you like children?” It’s one of the first questions potential Disney employees are asked. We found that the cruise staff knew just how to make children and their parents happy. This was especially true of the two wait staff who served us during our cruise.
Ivan entertained our children with tricks, while Paola kept us on our feet with funny jokes. By day two, we already looked forward to seeing them. Their true test came when our youngest became sick — at the table, no less. Their quick management of our problem was gracious and caring, and something we won’t forget.
Kids clubs
Whether they’re 3 or 17, kids have plenty to entertain them aboard the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. Children ages 3 to 7 have their own play area in the Oceaneer Club, where they can dress up at the Captain’s Closet, listen to stories or make a special craft.
Older kids, ages 8 to 12, have the Oceaneer Lab, a space-themed room filled with computers, an interactive science lab and a movie area.
Teens may not always want to hang out with their parents, so Disney created The Stack (Disney Magic) and Aloft (Disney Wonder) just for them. This teens-only pad has comfy couches, Internet access, big-screen TVs and a full soda bar. Counselors arrange a full schedule of cool teen activities, including dance parties and excursions.
For children under 3, babysitting is available for an extra fee at Flounder’s Nursery. While children under 12 are involved in their activities, parents can enjoy the ship worry free. An onboard paging system alerts parents to any needs or allows kids to contact their families at any time.
Adult escapes
Let’s face it. Even adults want their own playtime. Other times, they simply need some peace and quiet. I couldn’t help but make a daily visit to the Cove Café, a gourmet coffee shop in the adults-only area of the Magic where I could feed my addiction to frappuccinos and catch up on the latest news. Other adults favored Beat Street (aboard the Disney Wonder) or Route 66 (Disney Magic), the adults-only entertainment district that is home to three different night clubs. Several passengers I spoke with made the 9,000-square-foot (836 m²) Vista Spa and Salon — a full-service salon, spa and fitness center — a priority.
Family-themed entertainment
Nightly stage shows are part of many cruise experiences, but often those productions aren’t appropriate for children. This is an area when Disney truly shines — their full-fledged stage productions and family variety shows are geared for kids, but still entertaining for parents. Several Broadway-style musicals offer new takes on beloved Disney stories. In Twice Charmed, the now married Cinderella must overcome new evil plots of her stepmother’s, while in Disney Dreams, Peter Pan helps yet another young girl follow her dreams.
Disney Cruise Line’s award-winning Palo restaurant specializes in northern Italian cuisine, panoramic ocean views and intimate dinners.

Eat like a king
Dining was at the top of the list for every person I polled — and for good reason. The cuisine is excellent, and served with style. Passengers rotate through three themed restaurants. Lumiere’s (Disney Magic) offers French cuisine and elegance, while Triton’s, on the Wonder, specializes in seafood. Parrot Cay (both ships) is a Caribbean-style eatery.
The adults-only Palo restaurant serves Northern Italian cuisine. Animator’s Palate (on both ships) was the hands-down favorite restaurant with kids. Scenes from Disney stories cover the walls. During dinner, they “magically” turn from black-and-white drawings to full-color animations.
Private island paradise
Ever dreamed of having your own private isle in the Caribbean? At Castaway Cay, you can — at least for a day. Disney’s slip of paradise in the Bahamas has its own dock (no need for tender boats), and different areas set aside for play, relaxation or adventure. Castaway Cay is just what you’d imagine — clear blue waters, hammocks stretched under coconut trees and miles of quiet shoreline.
The 1,000-acre (4 km²) island has an adults-only beach, but we never made it there. My hubby and I were too busy snorkeling with the kids in the 12-acre (0.04 km²) snorkel park, playing on the white sand of the family beach and lounging in our beach chairs, sipping piña coladas.
And as far as memorable family adventures go, it doesn’t get much better than that.
A weeklong Caribbean cruise for a family of five runs around US$ 5,000.

45 Travel Tips For Beginners

united military travel, travel tips, travel, travel loans, how to travel, military travel, military travel loans, travel now and pay later

Are you new to the traveling world?  If so, welcome!  Be prepared to have your mind blown, and to never be the same....

Don't let the frolicking into the unknown part scare you, but rather let the inspiration start flowing.  That is one of the most beautiful things about travel, when we feel things that we have never felt before, or feelings things we never thought we would again come back.  You will discover a new you, and probably start recovering your old qualities - you find that your 20 year old self is still in there...she was just hiding :)

In order to fully enjoy your traveling experience you need to start off with a certain mindset, that is why I recommend these 45 tips.  They will help you handle anything and everything while abroad so you can fully soak up all the glory that traveling is.

Have you ever heard of the yTravel blog?  It is a blog written by a family of four: Caz, Craig, and their two girls while they travel the world full time.  My family has a lot in common with them, and so we share inspirations.  These tips are straight from Caz's experience in long term traveling, but they are relevant for short term travel also.  You can read more from them here!
1. Don’t expect things to be like they are at home.
3. Be open to learn new things.
4. Don’t judge, instead say, “Isn’t that interesting? Tell me more.”
5. Learn the basics of the local language. Use them often. It is the best way to show respect,  break down barriers and start conversations.
6. Manners are universal, use them.
7. Do not shout at others, they are not deaf, they just can’t understand you.
8. NEVER complain that the people of the country you are visiting do not speak English. Remember where you are.
9. Bargain, it is an expected part of a transaction.
10. Do not over bargain. 50 cents is nothing to you, but may mean a days worth of meals to the person you are haggling with.
11. Respect local customs. It is not about your way, you are the visitor.
12. Party yes. Have fun yes, but do not go so far to extremes that it means you trash the local area and people die.
13. Leave a good impression of your culture on the countries you are visiting.
14. Have off the beaten path adventures and enjoy traveling to the touristy stuff too – just add a different angle to it.
16. Travel in a style that is in alignment with your values and suits your likes and interests. Ignore everyone else’s opinion.
18. Don’t listen to the naysayers and dreamstealers telling you why you can’t live your dreams and how you should conform.
19. Eat street food. It won’t kill you. In fact, there are many reasons why you should eat street food.
20. Try different local dishes – ditch the Western diet.
21. It’s okay to feel uncomfortable, it is how you grow.
22. Be flexible, it is the best way to adapt.
23. Ask for help when you need it, even if it is in sign language and charades.
24. Carry palm cards with important phrases written on it in the local language. essential for vegetarians in China.
25. Don’t be afraid to respectfully say no.
26. If the chef of a village offers you rice wine shots at 10am after a morning hike so you can chase away any evil spirits you are carrying, do not be afraid to say YES.
27. Talk to the local people. Be friendly. It’s amazing what you will learn.
28. Do as much local as you can: local food, local transport, local accommodation.
29. Smile smile smile and laugh often- you’ll meet so many new friends this way.
30. Do one thing each day that scares you and push those comfort barriers a little further out each time.
31. Share and mingle with other travellers. It will give you a feeling of always being among friends.
32. Celebrate local customs and festivals with the local culture in their traditional manners.
33. Learn about other religions, not necessarily to believe something new, but to understand and perhaps to bring light unto your own beliefs.
34. Don’t rely on technology to help get you around, you will end up lost when the map app crashes.
36. Don’t be afraid to take each day as it comes with limited plans.
37. Guard your passport with your life and don’t ever give it to US immigration for visa extension because they somehow think you don’t need it to leave the country and won’t return it to you.
38. Have travel insurance – it ain’t sexy but neither is the thousands you could end up paying if you don’t have it.
39. If you get robbed or bad things happen, don’t get hung up on it. As long as you are safe and well, let it go and continue to enjoy yourself.
40. Learn how to toilet squat. You’ll need it.
41. Don’t be afraid to blow the budget on those once in a lifetime experiences.
42. If you are really hating it, then change direction.
43. Be prepared for reverse culture shock when you return home as it could really mess you up.
44. Don't be afraid of taking loans out to travel.  Life is to short - if you want to travel and travel loans are the way, JUST DO IT!

Motivational Tuesday - Start achieving your dreams now!

united military travel, travel, wanderlust, travel loans, travel now and pay later

What inspires you to follow your dreams?  What do you do each day to achieve them?  Is traveling something you hold so close to your heart that it completely takes you over?

Its ok if it is, the human race was born nomadic, so traveling naturally is a part of us.  I do not believe that we were meant to be cooped up, restricted by things, doing only what others tell us to do.

We were born to live free - to alway move.

If travel feeds your soul and makes you endlessly happy, it’s no longer a luxury activity. It should be viewed as an essential part of your existence, something you must do.  ~Jason / Zero To Travel

Right now I want you to think of your ultimate dream - envision yourself living it, immersed in it, loving it, hugging it....now begin to think about what you need to do to make it happen.

Write it down...

Keep that list with you at all times and each day I want you to commit to these easy steps that will bring you closer to your dream day by day.  You have to reorganize your life if you want to see changes happen....basically you have to change your mindset.

But how???

1.  Start listening to yourself.
THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT!  Regardless of what your dream is you have to block out all the naysayers and only listen to your heart.  You will never, ever, ever achieve your dreams if you let others talk you out of them.   Let all criticisms run off like water on a ducks back.

2.  Create a powerful daily routine
No matter how small your routine is, it is a daily step you are taking to achieving your dreams.  I cannot stress the importance of this - this is the law of cause and effect.  Wouldn't it be so nice if everything we wanted just feel into our laps with no work involved in it?  To bad, that will never happen.  Your routine also will become a part of manifestation - with you constantly thinking of your dream and taking actions to make it happen, you are manifesting the universe with all the essentials to make your dreams a reality.  You have to be involved!

3.  Choose yourself
Do not choose your family and friends over yourself because while you are doing everything for them, they are out trying to make their dreams happen despite of what you need.  If they love you as much as they say they do, they will be happy for you and supportive.

4.  Commit
With all your heart and soul you have to commit and it will make anything tangible.  To live your dream is to do what you didn't think was possible, you have to put all your energy into turning dreams into a reality.  Do not half ass anything - give 110% all the time!

Top 15 International Destinations For Family Vacation

Check out my top 15 international destinations I want to take our son, Noah, to before he is 18.  To some, these places may not seem kid friendly because they do not have a Disney World or museums, but for us...its all about nature and culture.

I do not envision all of our family vacations being in one place.  For instance, every year always go to the Outer Banks and only there.  Ideally, I would like to spend weekends at our "favorite, traditional spot" plus take international trips yearly.  When Noah turn 18 and Josh and I send him off into the world, I want to be confident that he knows how to navigate outside of his realm.  So, by providing the earth as his playground we will create ample opportunities to teach him, guide him, and show him the ways of the world.

I want Noah to know the different economic situations in the world, so he realizes how great he has it in the United States.  I want him to see first hand the historical monuments that he learns about in history class.  And when he takes marine biology, I want him to be able to know all the names of the seashells before hand from us shell collecting all over the world.

If you are interested in doing the same for your children, contact United Military Travel today to discuss your options for an easy assist travel loan!
