Music and Art in Hampton Roads, Virginia - June

Hampton Roads, Virginia houses a number of military bases including Langley Air Force Base, NAS Oceana and NS Norfolk Naval Base and lucky for all of you stationed in the area, there are a ton of fun festivals throughout the whole summer!

For the month of June, Virginia Beach is the place to be for music and art.

 Here is the line up...

1.  Sandstock - A Tribute To Rock And Roll

June 12 - 14

Who doesn’t need a little Rock & Roll in their life? Add a beach setting and dig your toes in the sand, and suddenly the tunes take you down memory lane. From June 12th to June 14th, grab your beach seat at the Cox Cultural Pavilion at 24th Street in the resort area to experience Virginia Beach’s version of Woodstock. Sandstock features nationally and regionally renowned tribute artists who cover music from Pink Floyd to Journey. The best part about Sandstock is that all performances are free to enjoy. Check out the line-up and head down early to stake your claim on prime beach real estate while being serenaded by some old favorites

2. Sonrise Music Festival

June 12 - 14

The 2nd annual Sonrise Music Festival is an event dedicated to making a difference in the community by evangelizing and fundraising. From June 12th through 14th, join in the fun with music, food and fundraising. Not only does the event help spread fun and joy, but the Sonrise Ministries supports a variety of community outreach programs made possible by the proceeds of the festival, including the support of homeless shelters in Virginia Beach. 3.  Flying Proms

June 13

Come and be a part of a cherished English tradition on June 13th as the Military Aviation Museum hosts the Flying Proms, an event that showcases the beauty of vintage aircraft flying maneuvers accompanied by live music performed by a symphony orchestra. The first half of the event will feature music from movies and television as well as some of the museum’s rare aircraft in flight. The second half will showcase the Symphonicity Orchestra playing patriotic music and culminating with a fireworks display by Zambelli Fireworks. Tickets range in price from $20 to $45 and include general admission to the museum. 

4. Boardwalk Art Show and Festival

June 18 - 21

Whether you are an art aficionado, a beach bum, a family on vacation or a 60-year veteran, the 60th Annual Boardwalk Art Show offers fine arts in the sand, with mass appeal. From June 18th to June 21st you can peruse fine art, enjoy live entertainment, and perhaps purchase a piece or two for your own collection during the Boardwalk Art Show. Purchase special Boardwalk Beach Club tickets that include access to the 80-foot tented area, open bar, food service, seating and beautiful views. Live music will be provided by More Perfect Jones Bluegrass at the Artist Awards Party. 

5. Hardee's Latin Festival

June 26 - 27

Spice up your June with some Latin flavor. From June 26th through June 27th prepare yourself for good food, great music and a celebration of the Latin culture. Local, regional and national entertainers take the stage during this two-day event and dazzle with salsa, merengue and jazz music. The Cox Cultural Pavilion at 24th Street offers a beautiful beach backdrop for all of the Latin Fest activities, including a Zumba fitness marathon, delicious food, continuous live music, dance performances and plenty of audience participation. Put on your dancing shoes and come with an empty stomach, then just soak it all in. Just to add more spice to your life, admission to the event is free.
